Security Up, Businesses Watchful After South Grand Robbery ...

SOUTH ST. LOUIS (KTVI)-St. Louis Police need your help tracking down a bold robber who held up a south city Subway restaurant at gunpoint over the weekend.? It happened as customers waited in line Saturday night to place their orders. Those customers had young children with them including an infant.

The crime has business owners banding closer together, looking out for each other.

Surveillance video from cameras at the Subway on Grand Boulevard shows a family hitting the floor as a robber points a gun at employees. The gunman grabbed cash from the register before running out the door. Nearby business owners are surprised by what happened.

Keith McDonnell, co-owner of Botanicals Design Studio, ?said, ?I was shocked, very shocked. This is a very safe neighborhood generally speaking.

It?s believed the same armed robber pulled the same stunt last month. That incident was caught on camera, too. Now business owners are drawing closer together and looking out for each other.

There was a police officer at the Subway Monday. The owner is also making security changes to help keep employees and customers safe. Many say they won?t let the incident keep them away. That?s good news to business owners who want to see the armed robber caught and customers continue to shop on South Grand.
