Re: Next consoles speculation/demands thread - Gaijin Gamers

What will it take to make you choose one console over another next year? It's a given that graphical and processor power will be roughly on par with present very-top-end PCs, but other than that, what features would you like to see on the next lot of consoles? What do you think they will realistically do?

Playstation
Almost certain: The next Playstation's online service will surely be at least as good as the current XBL. That means integrated voice chat, a quick party/invite system, enough fucking RAM reserved that the system can run a game and several other things at once.

Possible/probable: I actually think they'll let you "tab out" of a game while it's loading, or between multiplayer rounds, and you can have your browser running in the background. The Vita already does it.

Probably not: Allow you to run a music/YouTube player in the background, with quick tabbing between them and games. Plus picture-in-picture with YouTube/browser. Which is to say you can watch sports/movies/Facebook/whatever while you play games, all on one screen.

I'd like them to make it compulsory to have a Vita/mobile version of every game as part of certification. I will not rest until the universe fulfils the promise of the VMU.
